If you are like any woman who wants to make sure your home looks the best it possibly can, stains can be a battle. Here are some tips to help overcome the battle with stains and to continue keeping your home in tiptop shape.1. The foundation of cleaning granite countertops is to tackle the stain immediately before it can take root in your counter. This requires immediate wiping before the stain dries so it will be easier to clean in the long run.
2. The most common type of stains is that caused by food ingredients such as fruits or vegetables. When trying to clean these stains, it is necessary to mix several percentages of hydrogen peroxide and a few ammonia drops. After the solution is created, place on top of the stain and proceed to blot to remove it.
3. Grease makes a big mess but cleaning it has never been easier. For a greasy problem, cleaning granite countertops is very easy for the busy mother. Just use dishwashing liquid or paste and water and use that to blot the stain.
4. If you have a young child, you know for a fact that they can make a mess anywhere they go. Well now you don’t have to worry about your granite countertop becoming ruined by your child’s markers. If you have lighter granite, using hydrogen peroxide will work. If you have darker granite, you can use thinner or acetone. An important decision that homeowners are often faced with is that of which countertop is wanted- granite or marble. The countertop that is chosen will make a huge visual impact on your kitchen, but it also is the primarily surface that you will be doing your cooking and preparations. Neither of these types of stone is particularly cheap for countertops. Of course the price of granite and marble depends on where you live, but they usually should be close in consideration. Cost is not really a major aspect of deciding what counter to go with since they are very close. If there is a difference it will be minor.
Making the choice simple
The choice between granite and marble usually comes down to how much time you would like to spend maintaining the counter. If a little more TLC fits in your lifestyle and schedule then marble is the preferred choice. However, if you want something that will look great in 10 years as it does when installed with minimum worry, then granite is the best choice.
